How I Automated My Invoicing with One Prompt

I used to spend 30 minutes per invoice manually formatting line items, calculating totals, and writing payment terms. Then I realized I could do it all with one prompt. I created a template that takes my time log (a simple list of tasks and hours) and outputs a clean invoice in markdown.

Here's the structure: I tell the AI my hourly rate, client name, and a list of tasks with hours. The prompt instructs it to calculate subtotals, apply tax if needed, and format the output with a professional header and payment instructions. I copy the result into my invoicing tool and send.

It's not a full accounting system, but it saves me 20 minutes per invoice. For a freelancer sending 10 invoices a month, that's over 3 hours saved.
